Sachin Tendulkar, in full Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, (born April 24, 1973, Bombay [Mumbai], India), Indian professional cricket player, considered by many to be one of the greatest batsmen of all time. In 2012 he became the first cricketer to score 100 centuries (100 runs in a single innings) in international play.

Tendulkar was given his first bat when he was 11 years of age. As a 14-year-old, he used it to score 329 out of a world-record stand of 664 in a school match. A year later he scored a century on his first-class debut for Bombay (Mumbai), and at age 16 years 205 days he became India’s youngest Test (international) cricketer, making his debut against Pakistan in Karachi in November 1989. When he was 18 he scored two centuries in Australia (148 in Sydney and 114 in Perth), and in 1994 he scored 179 against the West Indies. In August 1996, at age 23, Tendulkar was made captain of his country’s team.

Tendulkar played his debut Test match against Pakistan at the age of 16 in Karachi in 1989. He scored 15 runs in that match before being bowled by Waqar Younis’ bowling, though he was hit in the body by Pakistani bowling during the innings.

During 1994-1999, Sachin Tendulkar rapidly developed along with his physical development. He then marked his first century in One Day Internationals against Australia on September 9, 1994, in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Tendulkar encouraged Azharuddin to continue batting and he managed to score 29 runs off just 10 balls.

This tour is remembered for the famous Test match in which India defeated Australia. The Indian Premier League (IPL) has completed its journey of 1000 matches in 15 years. The historic 1000th match was played on Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai between the Rajasthan Royals, the first champions of the tournament, and the Mumbai Indians, the five-time champions, which Mumbai won by continuously hitting three sixes in the final over.

With 1,474 individuals getting a chance to play, a total of 294,833 runs have been scored in the tournament’s 1,000 matches, hitting 26,711 fours and 11,302 sixes.
